We have been making foraging toys for Mattie but have been using almonds and peanuts (what we have from former owner). What other kinds of things are good for putting into the foraging toys?

I have been having the kids make up some so they are ready to put in her cage those days when we are going to be gone most of the day.

Thanks for ideas.

Nuts are very fatty and shouldn't be given to birds that often. Very rarely, as a treat. I would put dry cereals with little sugar in them (Cheerios, wheat bran, etc). Other foods could be veggies, but they may expire if he doesn't find them quickly.

Be careful with cereals as they may contain too much iron. Nuts are good but in small amounts. nutriberries work well also popcorn is another thing that is good as it does not expire. Dried fruit or Veggies (sulphate free) as well as pumpkin seeds are some other ideas.
