Hi everyone, just wondering whether anyone would be able to identify this little chap. He's a client of the Veterinary Surgery I work at and we were hoping to get a little more in-depth information about his care for the owner, but we can't seem to identify him! He has a very shallow-set beak, similar to a parrotlet.

Thanks in advance!

Could easily be very wrong, but is it a Bourkes parakeet??

I'm going with crimson as well as that is what he looks like to me... Kinda hard to say without seeing is whole chest display I suppose, but taking a guess at what it looks like Australian grass parrot species sounds spot on.

Bourke parakeets don't have red and they are definitely not green birds.

I was thinking Scarlet Chested but now I think I'm going to go with Turquoise. There's some red in the wings that Scarlet Chested typically don't have, unless this is a hybrid?

Orange bellies aren't really available in the pet trade considering how endangered they are... if they are in the pet trade, they should be in a breeding program!

In short, not likely!

It would probably help to know the age of the bird as well as where the bird is located.
