- We are looking for a bird for our family. It's very much like we are pregnant and waiting for the day the new addition comes to the family!
Move over Rico, we're rescuing an old lady!
Ok, that was a bit of a joke, nothing will ever replace my blue baby <3
Anyways, after a crazy morning, being woken up by a employee that works on our farm, because our boiler was on fire....
I went to town with my best friend, daughter, and our birds. I typically bring Rico whenever I can with me. We live in a quiet town, and today was a perfect day. Over cast and warm.
I went and got my check, deposited it, got coffee and then I always stop at the local pet store. I know the owner and even if I don't buy something, it's nice to touch base and chat.
Today when I went in she pulled me to the back and asked if could help her.
You see, someone "gave" her two cockatiels. A boy, who was healthy and beating up this girl.
She is tiny. Honestly the smallest tiel I have ever seen. She said she's 14.
Her wing is broken, has been for a long time, and set wrong.
She also had terribly clubbed feet.
She said "please take her, I know you can help"
So I left, finished my things, talked to my fiancé, and am now having lunch and heading to go get her.
I've read a ton about disabled birds. But I never thought I would be doing this.
She's terribly frightened.
I plan to put her downstairs to quarantine.
I've spoken to the rescue, and the director will help to get her to a vet.
For now I'm glad to foster her.
I'm buying some rope perches, perhaps a ferret hammock for her to rest in?
What am I in for?
