Sunday/gold capped hybrid conures: mystic and gypsy
Sun: Paisley
Apart from our own beautiful babies what would you consider your favorite conure? Looks? Temperament?

Just curious :)

I seem to be drawn to patagonian, painted and and crimson bellied. I visited a green cheek in the Local pet store that I fell in love with. Small and gentle. So calm even when a tad frightened.

And of course, I'll always love my Sun. She was my snuggle, cuddle play buddy. Rolled on her back, tug of war, so loving and sweet. And oddly, was loud, but rarely. :)

Ive only met two conures before :p
My own and a sun conure. I would prefer my peach front than the sun. The sun was more nippy and louder. :p
My Flynn has a much more calm personality. But if I got to choose to met one, it would be the golden conure as they are so beautiful. :D

I am a HUGE fan of the Green Cheek Conures, so much so I got one :)

I love my Jenday and red factor sun but like the look of regular GCC. I don't care for the nippiness of GCCs though. The screams of my two Aratingas don't bother me either while a GCC's little calls just make me go AWWWWWWW and faun over it lol

My all time favorite is definitely the crimson bellied (not that I'm biased ;)). I also really like golden conures, blue crowned conures, and white eared conures.

For me the Pearly conure wins hands down! :D

I couldn't find any in Melbourne so I got a GCC instead. :rainbow1:

My green cheeks (cinnamon, pineapple, normal) all have terrific characteristics (somersaults and hiding metal things, somersaults and being cuddly, the 'guard bird' respective to their aforementioned types), but the blue crown is quickly becoming my favorite.

YMMV, but for its potential for being loud, mine never gets louder than my trio, has done its share of stunts (hangs on cage bars with its beak, walking upside down on a ladder to get to a water dish, and imitates a few phrases and seems to be trying out more on occasion)...

Yeah, the blue crown gets my vote.

I wish I had a pionus; I should have bought one a decade ago when petco sold them... or even local breeders; none are around MN anymore, but it's a moot point: With the blue crown, all my cages are now in use, and I'm happy with my flock o' fids in general. :)

I suspect, if/when the blue crown gets used to me and if he warms up to me, I'll get him to do somersaults and other tricks as well... right now, he needs to acclimate and realize my hands are not big scary things. :green:

Suns are gorgeous but tend to be loud at times. Exceptions aside. My only other experience has been with my Green Cheek. He gets moody at times, we went through a rough patch for a while (until I happened upon the forums and found some keys to our problems) but he is a crazy thing. The sun I had was a real clown too but if she couldn't be right on me she got mad. I wouldn't have minded but she chewed holes in my shirt. She was a nut.

the absolute best conure is the stuffed one I seen at a museum!

Im kidding I dont know much about conures but I sure love the looks of the mitred conure but have never consider a conure due to the noise level.

Alright, call me biased, but behavior wise, I say my GCCs. Maybe it was just them, but the crimson bellied and sun were quite aggressive and loud. But I know a lot of people with great crimson bellied and suns, so it was probobaly just those two. :) My GCCs were afraid at first, but after three weeks they love me! :D I think all conures are amazing, especially the coloring.

Sun Conures! They are loud and fiesty and beautiful!

I have two I love, the nanday and the Jenday. I love the charatcer of the jenday, and I like the Nanday for it's looks. I haven't met to many conures though so it's hard to choose.

I love conures too! But I'm biased as well. I would like to have another species as well but not sure when that will happen.

By far Golden Conures they are the perfect bird loving just like a cockatoo demanding of attention.....they are loud but that can be overlooked b/c of all the oteiher great qualities they have.....

I only have experience with my GCC, who is an outstanding bird, but quite difficult in some ways, I sometimes wish he was a hair more laid back! I stumbled across these guys once and they sound perfect on paper plus they are lovely.

One thing to point out is that there are several different genus of birds included in the designation "conure", and the Aratingas (including suns) are very different from the Pyrrhuras (including GCCs) for example. Some people object to the term "conure" for this reason -- I don't -- but that's why Wikipedia calls all these birds "parakeet", which is an even more generic term. That's the flaw in Wikipedia, if someone is strident enough and not actually wrong they can usually get their way. But I digress.

I guess it would depend on what you want out of your bird. The only 2 conures I am familiar with is the GCC and the Sun.

If you want constant interaction I would say GCC............they are nippy but for me I love the constant interaction in everything I do. My sun is more laid back. He likes to be with you for 45 min to an hour and then he wants to be in or on his cage. My Gcc never goes to cage except to sleep or when I leave for a bit. My Gcc doesn't like to be petted but my Sun does. So it works out well. I don't trust them out at the same time together yet because Forrest is such a napoleon and would get himself hurt. I would hate to lose the constant interaction with Forrest although it is nice to have one that is a bit more independent.

My favorite is the sun conure!! There cuddly, playful and loving and I kinda like how a sun scream sounds? Is that normal? Haha! I was supposed to get a baby this summer but then I found out that I'm living in the dorms D=

I love the sun conure, when i was picking him out I saw a red factor i totally loved to but screech he was just a clown and won me over

I met a black capped conure today and am totally smitten. My vote would of been for gcc but I'm not so sure now;)
