What's the earliest age a GCC will start to molt?

Hello all! I hope everyone is having a nice day! My questions is what the earliest age a GCC will molt? I'm finding 3-5 feathers or more a day now for about a week and I'm worried something is bothering my GCC. I was told she was hatched in late January. Is this normal molting or is she plucking? I sure hope she isn't plucking!!!! The feathers don't seem to be broken but they are mostly from her chest and a few from her back. I have seen her pick them up and chew on them but she seems to just play with them then too. Any help or advice would be very appreciated! Thanks Bert!

Do you see any pin feathers coming through? My GCC was hatched the beginning of January and started her molt about 2 weeks ago.

She had a few come in around her beak but I can't see any others yet and that's why I was worried. She lost 22 feathers in the last two days. I cleaned out her cage and I found them today. Sorry for the delay. Thanks for your reply Kyoto.

My Jenday hatched in February and she is molting. When I checked a few weeks back I was assured that this was normal. [emoji51]

Thanks so much for your reply. I read that 8 months to a year was normal for the first molt so I've been very concerned she is plucking herself. I hope that is wrong and that she is ok! I would upload a pic of her feathers but I'm not sure how to. I created a photobucket account but I can't get beyond that. Thanks again!

My GCC is five months old in two days (born Jan. 10th), and she started molting it seemed almost after she got all her feathers! I thought it was plucking too because it looked like another bird exploded under her cage with all the feathers she was losing, but I started seeing a lot of pin feathers, and she's growing them back. Also, there are no big patches (like the whole chest or something), it's just little patches that make her look kinda scruffy for right now lol I'm sure that your baby is just molting hopefully
