I'm always on the lookout for interesting or creative toys and I'd love to know what toys you other eclectus owners' birds love the most! Although even if you don't own an eclectus, your opinion will be appreciated!

The foraging wheel! Even though he took less than a day figuring it out he still takes ages pulling things out of it and always knows hes in for a treat.

and those little rings. They're supposed to be threaded onto some sticks on a stand, but i could never teach that to him - he gets too much enjoyment from just throwing them around. lol

Nalani loves any toy she can shred. That's the only toys I found she was interested in. Not a huge fan of plastic or wood toys... although one of the pinatas I got for her had little wood chips dangling that she enjoyed chewing to pieces. Here's a few links of toys that she really enjoys:

She also loves anything she can dangle on:

This is her FAVORITE, she's on this atleast 3 hours a day!!

I think it just takes a lot of experimenting, even with the toys she doesn't really like I switch it around and move her toys to keep her environment stimulating. I know other people have success with making their own toys using vegan leather, straws, cardboard, etc. Check out the do it yourself section of the forum for some really cool ideas to make toys at home for your fid.

ahh, once again I get too carried away with the response :09:. But I hope it helps.

Echo loves toys made for human babies. Stacking ups, rattles, plastic shapes that go into holes. She also loves cardboard, crinkled newspaper, and practically anything that will make her think.

Greenie likes shredding lettuce and he has a great time unwrapping christmas present, he opened Salty's present first then his own. Some times he will play with the cat balls on a chain but usually doesn't play a lot

My ekkies rarely play with their toys....they do occasionally but they can careless if there's a toy in their house. My breeder friend's pairs are the same way. They do prefer to interact with us instead....

The foraging wheel! Even though he took less than a day figuring it out he still takes ages pulling things out of it and always knows hes in for a treat.

and those little rings. They're supposed to be threaded onto some sticks on a stand, but i could never teach that to him - he gets too much enjoyment from just throwing them around. lol

Oliver is coming home on Saturday morning, would you recommend these toys for him at 14 weeks old? If so, where do you get them? Also I read several posts ago about a swing. Is this something I should get or is he too young. I'm trying to figure out what would be age appropriate for him and not scare him as he is transitioning. He's been in a cage for about two weeks and seems quite steady.

Thank you in advance!
Lisa

I'd say he's probably ready for any toy you can throw at him at this point (don't actually throw toys at him), and Mysafebirdstore.com has great toys! And they can be trusted.

Montego loves this little plastic penguin which was originally a toy from a McDonalds kids meal. He could spend hours stalking and throwing it around. He seems to have this type of attraction to any small toys with a face?

I got it from The Parrot rescue Centre website, but i think my safe birdstore has a different brand of the same thing as well. All the foraging toys you can expect to be around $30-50+ depending on size though. I only bought him one for this reason :P
As for the rings they're just a kids toy. Plastic is probably the safer way to go so you dont have to worry about paint or anything as well. :)

as for swings you could put it low until youre sure of his balance. Pickle never liked swings, but he loves his boing and atom - go figure :P
Boings are great and ours went through the washing machine a few times safely as well, getting most of the poop off (dried it in the sun). Unfortunately pickle shredded it and it eventually had to go.

Thank you for alll your information regarding Pickles toys. Last night my cage and stand arrived and Monday Oliver comes home. So today I'll see if I can find the toys you mentioned. Thank you!

Roc loves anything that contains food in it. Aside from that he loves paper and toys with beads.
