So, I don’t know if anyone else has tried this but I bought some organic live wheatgrass from the local health food spot, brought it home and rinsed it to death then left it in the bottom of Tori’s cage. I figured at worst it was a safe non-toxic bit of cage decor and if I was lucky Tori would actually nibble at it since it is supposedly a good source of vitamin A. Woohoo! She loves it!

Looks great! No problems with that. This would be good too for more ground foraging species like a lot of cockatoos and cockatiels.

I love the fact that it’s live and continues to grow even with her nibbling on it. I just take it out every couple of days to water it/wash any poop off...otherwise zero maintenance!

I haven't bought Wheatgrass, but I do buy Levi, Organic Basil, Dill, Rosemary, Cilantro and he loves to rip them to shreds.
There is another one I buy him, but I just can't think of it right now.

I've heard that with live plants in pots or what not you have to be careful of mold and fungas growing on the soil.
But how wonderful to get fresh growing greens in your birdies

That’s one of the best things about the wheatgrass...no soil! Really it’s nothing more than overgrown sprouts :D ! And even better, the flat was only about $3 so if at any point it looks even the slightest bit iffy, I’ll just buy a new one!
