Which cage is better?

Both are good, but I think the smaller one is more suitable for an Alexandrine. But its always best to get the biggest cage you can afford.

I also noticed the smaller cage got slightly better reviews.

Alexandrines are pretty big birds! If you know how large they are, do you think the smaller cage would be large enough for the alex, once you add in perches, toys and dishes?

Perches, Toys and Dishes take up more space than you realize. I would say the bigger the better. I have 3 Conures and each have their own 38"x38"x65" cage. Conures are rather small birds but once you add in all their "stuff" you need extra room for them to move around and stretch their wings. Good Luck on your search for the best cage for your baby!
