So after having Houdini for a day I noticed this morning while he was filing his beak that there was this white mucus type stuff he was spreading around the inside of his beak. It looked like the dandelion stem milk. Consistency and color. Should I worry??

I haven't heard of anything like that before, try calling your vet and asking about it? There's no food mixed with water that could make it look like that?

My bird had some mucas in her beak, and came back she had a bacterial infection. Best to get him off to the vet! Even if he's not sick, it will be good to get him a vet check anyway seeing as he's a new bub! :)

Agree. Hhopefully it's nothing but that doesnt sound normal. Cape parrots drool, but most other species have quite dry mouths.

I agree with all the others. It's better to be safe so I'd take him to the vets. Let us know how he gets on?

Hope your new baby feels better soon. It is probably something minor and a quick vet visit and maybe some antibiotic will have him 100%.

If it were a fungal infection the mucus would be clear but thick.

However to be a milky consistence could it be your bird is regurgating food into it's mouth. Maybe he is trying to feed one of your other birds & doesn't quiet know what to do yet. This i have seen many times with my own birds.

But of course if your little guy shows any sign of being unwell a visit to the vet is wise.

Well he was on my shoulder when he did it. Could it be that he was regurgitating for me? Lol

If all signs tells you he is a happy healthy little guy then that would explain a lot. It is very possible he has pair bonded with you & wants to feed you. LOL.

I've had him 3 days. Lol. He's with me a lot as I want to bond with him. But he does climb off hubby to get to me tho. Hehe

Unless he's eating white food, though, regurgitation wouldn't likely look milky. It's pretty much a what-goes-in-comes-out deal.

Vet appt Monday at 10.

Also what's with these vet receptionists who talk to you like it's their JOB! She was the snottiness woman ever. Didn't ask questions bout what he needed to be seen for or anything, and when I tried to explain to see if she'd ask the vet before bringing him in, she interrupted and said to make an appt. gah.

Maybe she was having a bad day...
