I've noticed recently that he makes these soft, but very high pitched, squeaky sounds - but only when he's playing in his window. He never does it when he's not (a) rummaging in the 'toy rotating' box kept on the window sill or (b) climbing up the burglar bars to the very top of the window.

Are these squeaks sounds of happiness? Enjoyment?

Hmm.. I don't have any zon experience but my Pi(related to zons?) makes a squeak sound when he's getting head scratches. Not like the hormonal cooing, but a happy squeak.
It sounds like Percy is making happy sounds though! :D (From what I can gather through text, anyways.)

Kiwi squeals when he's happy/intrigued. I think it's a fairly normal zon noise. And it's cute;)

P.S. No one would complain if you shared some pics of Percy rummaging in the toy box:54:

LOL! Okay you guys! Actually, I have tried to take pics of him in the box but with the strong light from the window and my limited photography skills, it turns out a bit of a 'study in shadows...". Will try again though ;)

Bosley does a squeaking noise as part of his mating dance and as he tries to find little nest spots. It is that time of year!

I don't know how long ago this thread was but whatever. My budgie makes squeaky/squealing sounds but only sometimes. I try putting on his favorite song and he chirps once in a while to it. When he chirps his tail bobs up and down. I got him about a month and a half ago. I don't know what to do. HELP

Welcome to the forum, Melissa. :)

I think it would be a good idea if you created your own thread in the Parakeet section HERE: Budgies, Parakeets & Cockatiels - Parrot Forum - Parrot Owner's Community

If you're unsure about how to create your own thread, looky: http://www.parrotforums.com/questions-answers/3063-how-start-your-own-thread.html
