Will a Jenday and a cockatiel get along if they're in separate cages?

We are thinking about rescuing a cockatiel and wondering how Buddy would react to that? They will be in separate cages

The older lady that owns him had to go to hospice, and none of the kids want the bird, he's 16 years old.
