Wing clipping feathers

Hi, I haven't had a chance to trim my sons wings so i did it, I trimmed the first 5 feathers do i do 5 or how many?

erik, just test fly him. He should be easily able to glide to the floor & land on both feet.

I've read that you can do just three, as long as they're cut the same length, and the bird can't fly but it can land just fine.

I cut 4 at an anfle across the last flight feathers, he can fly from point to point ok, he cant really climb to well though, more level flight and going down. He prefers now not to fly and instead calls until someone goes and gets him, flight is a last resort. In my mind thats perfect, he 'can' fly but chooses not too...

Make sure u clip the flight feathers and not top feathers. It can be tricky sometimes
