I'm not 100% sure, but I may have a red breasted parakeet. What I do know is that he's a naughty bird.
I have a mustache parakeet but have been toying with the idea of getting her a friend. What are your thoughts about another bird?

I have more than one bird, and I think there are benefits in this. A quieter house does not seem to be one ;) but maybe as screaming isn’t an issue, but they make plenty of noise

Screaming is usually a bored bird, need more physical activity, mental stimulation, social contact. Birds are smart social and active creatures. All of us struggle to meet those needs. Starting off trying to make changes in those areas will go a very long way to lowering screaming. Then behavior modification techniques and pattering helps reduce screaming even more.

This is a link to an article I really like. If you can’t follow he link let me know I’ll copy paste

Double the birds may very well give you double the noise level. IF you want another bird because You want another bird, that is a good reason to get one. But getting one bird to quiet down the other is Not likely to work.

As Laursea has noted, you need to work on figuring out why this bird is so loud --- and, whether it is unusually loud or just normal-loud ---, and then what you can do to improve its environment / life, or train it to be quiet -- at SOME times.

Excessive screaming Does indicate a problem of some kind, whether health, training, boredom, or environment. However it IS the Nature of birds to be Loud and it is not-possible and also cruel to try to limit their noise too much below a certain level.

doubt it-- if you don't have time for 1, don't get a 2nd, as they may not tolerate each other. Never ever get a bird for your bird. You could end up needing to provide 6+ hours of collective out of cage time daily if they cannot be out together...plus, hormones etc can impact things..
