What's the word on Christmas Trees? This will be our first x-mas with our Severe Macaw and I know she'll want to hang out on the tree. Do Macaw's have any problems with pine? Besides the sap and feathers thing.

Good question. I do know if can be horrible for their feathers, but other than that I suspect there wouldn't be any problems. Pine branches are on the safe lists for perches. Also check out where you get it from: was it sprayed with any chemicals, pesticides, or the like.

Once our GW :red1: stopped being scared of the tree (about 5-10 minutes) it would be promptly destroyed! :D

On a serious note, my concerns would be power cords & the ingestion of plastic & stuff from the decorations.

Yeah Pepper has already developed a love of chord chewing, she goes right for them every chance she gets. It's technically my girlfriends parrot but now she making plans for our first X-mas tree. I can't stand x-mas trees. Instead of making an argument over it I'm trying to sell her on the idea it would be bad for the bird. We'll see if she buys it.

Ha ha! I am completely with ya on the tree. I just started taking my wife to Mexico for Xmas & the whole tree thing was out the window! :D

What a bunch of scrooges you guys are I live with my birds, dogs, and my youngest daughter that is 14 now we are'nt even home for Xmas because I have 4 other kids and grand kids I make them do Xmas for me. but I still put up a 2ft tall artifcial tree and dig out the little chrismas village and all the Xmas stuff I don't go all out with the huge real tree anymore there is no reason to I live in the middle of no where so noone comes to visit me there. but I like to get into the xmas spirit a little it just makes me feel good to have the house dressed up a little for Xmas.

My macaw is a scaredy cat, he dislikes our christmas tree (dosn't hate) and he is afraid of the little birds outside. He thinks of himself as little, and vulnerable to the squawking birds outside! :)

A 2' tree would be great but I know her and deep down inside I'm sure she's got her mind set on a Griswold class behemoth of a tree and we don't ornament 1 and you know what that means. Time to hide the credit cards.
