We gave Xander a dish to bathe in, and though he didn't get too wet, he still decided to preen:) I just had to share as his looks so cute doing his long tail feathers:)
The light in the picture looks much closer than it actually is (he can't reach it, must be the perspective).

Oooh, what a nice picture. And what an impressive set of tail feathers!!!

So pretty! Can I also say that Xander is the best name ever? (My oldest is also named Xander ;) ) Im so excited to have a bird to watch doing this soon... :)

Beautiful tail feathers Xander. They look awesome. I love watching Alex's preening their long tail feathers. Bundii wraps hers around her head when they are at their longest. :)

What a sweet photo, Terry!! :D

Does he go back into his cage all by himself already? He made himself RIGHT at home, didn't he?

Awww... Xander... what a sweetheart! Barney and Madge say 'Pkark', which, as we all know, is Alexandrine for 'Hey bro!'.

I love the name Xander, have ever since Buffy the Vampire Slayer:)

He goes in most of the time, this afternoon I had to wait on him to go back in. He flinches and shakes when I try to get him to step up when he doesn't want to, so I just let him do his thing for now until he feels more comfortable:) I'm hoping that he realizes soon that no one is going to hurt him anymore.

He is such a beautiful bird. I've never seen an Alexandrine up close. What a lovely tail. And their faces. So sweet.

Look at those tail feathers!!! Lovely..Bob's getting jealous..lol..

Ah, the joys of having a parrot who actually knows how to preen! I've forgotten what that is like. Smh. I'll just have to live that part out vicariously through you, Terry. (Still love my perpetually tousled Bixby, though.)

Xander is looking so much happier now, due to your loving attention. So beautiful to see.

So far, he was only really preening his tail. But the good news is that he got so interested when I started misting everyone else that he came to the front of his cage and I misted him a little, and he opened his wings for it:) So glad he is getting over the fear of what should be enjoyable! He is busy preening everywhere now. Hoping that he stops the overpreening, though.

Wow! He's already gotten comfortable enough with you to overcome a deeply ingrained fear? Amazing, Terry.

Thanks Stephen, but I think it is more the other fids who got him over it:) The way that Ekko jumps around every which way and coos, how could Xander not want to join in the fun?
