We have had Xander now for 2.5 months, and he is doing great! No more feather chewing or pluckng so far, and he absolutely loves his veggies, fruit, birdie bread, gobbles whatever I give him:) He is such a delight, and so smart and sweet:)
Here are his pics from when we first got him compared to now:)

What a remarkable transformation!!! Xander is GLOWING, Terry!! Incredible what some TLC, good nutrition and regular baths can do. :D

He looks soooooooo much better!!!! It's always amazing what a little tender loving care can do! :)

His regular bathing I think has a lot to do with it. He had not had a bath in years before he came here. Poor guy, no wonder he was plucking and chewing, he had to be so itchy:(
The subtraction of coffee and hot dogs from his daily diet probably helped as well..lol.
It makes me so happy to see him coming out of his shell now:)

Shirre, I was told by the people I got him from that the previous owners had actually given him a bowl of coffee to drink from in his cage. I have no idea where people get their ideas from:(

I know....and coffee is soooooo not good for them.....When I first took Java the U2 in, same issue....he had so much bad habits I had to correct.....

Makes you wonder if these people put coffee in their baby's bottle as well.

I used to babysit a co-workers lory when he was out of town. He only fed that bird cookies and seed. Sam was 16 years old. They had had him all that time. I have no idea how he lived that long.

Wow...speechless here, Karen. That poor lory:(

He's looking fabulous! Imagine what he'll look like this time next year! :D

Thank you! I can't wait to see him then, and am so glad I have been taking pics of him from the beginning. Seeing him everyday, I had not really noticed a big difference until my daughter pointed it out in the pics she had taken:)

*someone* has put diet coke in my SON's bottle before  so things like giving their birds foods they shouldn't have, really irritates me.

Apart from the fantastic improvement in his condition, what I find especially heartwarming is the change in his demeanor. From what the pics show, he stands up so straight and proud now compared to the Feb pics. You're doing such a wonderful job with him!

Thank you, Michelle, the look in his eyes is so different now. He was so terrified when he first came, and now he just struts around, chattering away. He went from being terrified of being misted, to tolerating but hating it, to opening his wings now and saying pwetty pwetty bird as he spins around so I don't miss anywhere:)
I love this guy sooo much:)
