can anyone explain the difference between the green and yellow thighed caique beside the colour.
are they a true breed or a cross. i see them advertised as white bellied, but some have yellow legs and some green.

Parrots don't have breeds, also it's not a cross;)

I'll explain this: there are two classifications of caiques:
1. The most popular verson - two species: black headed and white belied caiques. Yellow- and green-thighed parrots are subspecies of the second one. This is why they both are advertised as "white belied"

2. less popular verson (which is used by eg. IUCN) - 4 species:
- black headed
- green thighed
- yellow thighed
- yellow tailed (the less popular one)

Last three species in the 1st verson are subspecies of the white belied caique.

I don't think they have any other differences beside the colour, especially they "often" are one species
