I swear she is a FREAK-A-BIRD!

I thought she would be scared when we brought it in and put it in the stand just a few feet from her cage, but NO, she was doing her happy dance and wanting out of her cage! She usually backs away to the far corner and peaks out around a toy when new things are brought in, but not today! :)

After we got it set up and all the boxes of decorations brought in from the garage my Mom left so I let her out and she jumped on my shoulder and kissed my whole face :D her normal greeting when I let her out now!

I was going to start going through the lights and making sure they work so I could start decorating, but when I walked by the tree she jumped off my shoulder head first into the tree! The branches are too small for her to get a grip on and too wimpy to support her weight so she was flapping her wings doing a controlled slide down the side of the tree!

I'm in total shock and trying to get my hand under her without hurting her wings or feet and stop her from falling. I finally felt her feet grip my finger so I started picking her up and moving her away from the tree and she jumped AGAIN! Another wing flapping controlled slide with me trying to get my hand under her again without hurting her. Got her on my hand again and this time put my other hand on top of her so she couldn't jump and got away from the tree as fast as I could!

Now we go to the table and turn on the bright light so I can do a full check out of her entire body to make sure she isn't hurt. She seems fine, everything moves normally and she has her same attitude about me touching her wings and legs as she normally does. (apparently if I want bird wings and legs I should grow my own and leave hers alone)!

Now every time I walk by the tree with her on my shoulder I have to put my hand in front of her so she can't jump into it! She tries every time too! And it doesn't even have lights or decorations on it yet! Nothing sparkly, shiny, or bright colored, just a plain Douglas Fir tree sitting in the living room.

Glad she's ok! Maybe she thinks you brought her home a fabulous new 'play stand' and wants to play in it RIGHT NOW lol. Kiwi goes nuts over our tree too and if he could fly, he'd probably try to land in it.

She is fine thank God! It's me who is recovering from the coronary she gave me

She can't fly either, but she did contemplate attempting it from the top of her cage for awhile! At this rate this could be the longest December in history!

I am making her a fabulous new play stand :D I hope she is as enthusiastic about it as she is about my tree!

We decided not to put up a tree this year for this very reason.

Well, Merry Christmas to you, Miss Zilla! Forget the presents, Mom, Zilla wants the tree. I'm glad she didn't get hurt in her enthusiastic approach to making the tree her own. Amanda, you may have an interesting month. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing Zilla's play stand!

Allee, Zilla makes every day interesting, some more than others, but she really really wants to play in the tree! She stayed up way later than she normally does last night plotting just how she was going to get from her cage top to the tree, even thought about jumping and trying to fly to it

I made her play stand so I could sit it on a table or hang it in front of the window, a portable one I can move from room to room! All I need to do now is put the vet wrap on it. Not sure where everyone gets the pretty colors of vet wrap, but all I could find anywhere I went was red or blue, or pastel pink or blue with puppy/kitty paw prints on it (I didn't think she would appreciate the paw prints) I figure I can just get it finished for her and then when I find the colors I want I can put it over the colors I don't want...LOL

I will post pics for everyone as soon as I find the time to get it finished

I order vet wrap from MSBS. Usually when it is buy 1 get 2.
Whisper doesn't like the vet wrap. I took it off of some of the stand so that she would go more places and hopefully play with more of the big toys. So far she is staying away from the big toys.

They do make things interesting. Poppy has a portable play stand that I bought for the quakers and the cockatiel. Poppy adopted the stand the day I brought it home. I can't convince her that it's too small for her. She was on her stand the other day and I was cleaning in the next room. I believed I was keeping an eye on her, I heard a couple of crashes but Poppy likes to throw things. When I returned to her room, she had moved all the paper out of her cage and scattered it all over the room, she had cleared the table of toy parts, removed the parrot proof locks on the food cups on her play stand and launched the food, water and cups to the floor. The best part was finding Poppy sitting on her stand exactly where I had left her, she was chewing her toenails and looking like a little white angel. I must have said, "Really?" a couple of times because, "really?" Is Harry's new favorite word. Harry wasn't about to take the blame for Poppy's mess, she had gone inside her cage and closed the door behind her.

BTW, please don't ever let Zilla have access to your MSBS account info, she'll order her own toys to go under her tree.

HER tree is about right! And I'm sure she would order everything on the sight....I think I might have missed a couple things with my order today! Luckily for her, I don't think I missed too many fun things and she will have tons of fun stuff in a couple days!

HAHAHHAA!!! Sounds like she's a bit enthusiastic about her new tree [emoji6] :p Just wait until you decorate it hehehe

We don't have a tree yet, but now that I think about it maybe we won't...who knows... It might be more hassle than anything- I have a cat who loves to pull ornaments off and bat them around, a toddler who has to play with and touch EVERYTHING, and Chili-- I imagine she will either be deathly afraid of a tree, or ridiculously curious and relentless at inspecting it.

Oh- if there's a wilco or some other farm/feed store in your area, check there for vet wrap. We have a wilco in my town and I found vet wrap there for half of what everyone else charges [emoji41]

There is a Wilco and a Coastal, I never thought to check them! Thanks!

Lol you've got to get a pic/vid of zilla in the tree :)

She might be hard to find. it's amazing how well they blend in.

I would love to if I wasn't so scared she would get hurt! But my goal is to keep her out of the tree, especially after I get it decorated.

She seems to be trying to get to the middle of the tree, I'm not sure I would be able to get her out without hurting her, and I'm sure she would blend in nicely!

But Moooo-ooom...

Why would you go through all that trouble of bringing me home a new play tree, and putting all those bird toys on it, and then not let me play in it?!

It's just not fair!!!

:DTHAT'S MINE!:D

I know right!!! And I'm sure that's EXACTLY what she is saying (along with all the bad words she is calling me in her birdie language)

She spent all day yesterday plotting from her cage just how she was going to get to it when I let her out! :54:

She seriously thought about trying to jump from her cage into it, but then thought better of it. Apparently she thought 8 feet was too far to try. She has flown over twice that far before landing on the floor, so I know she could do it if she tried!
