I swear she is a FREAK-A-BIRD!
I thought she would be scared when we brought it in and put it in the stand just a few feet from her cage, but NO, she was doing her happy dance and wanting out of her cage! She usually backs away to the far corner and peaks out around a toy when new things are brought in, but not today!
After we got it set up and all the boxes of decorations brought in from the garage my Mom left so I let her out and she jumped on my shoulder and kissed my whole face
her normal greeting when I let her out now!
I was going to start going through the lights and making sure they work so I could start decorating, but when I walked by the tree she jumped off my shoulder head first into the tree!
The branches are too small for her to get a grip on and too wimpy to support her weight so she was flapping her wings doing a controlled slide down the side of the tree!
I'm in total shock and trying to get my hand under her without hurting her wings or feet and stop her from falling. I finally felt her feet grip my finger so I started picking her up and moving her away from the tree and she jumped AGAIN!
Another wing flapping controlled slide with me trying to get my hand under her again without hurting her. Got her on my hand again and this time put my other hand on top of her so she couldn't jump and got away from the tree as fast as I could!
Now we go to the table and turn on the bright light so I can do a full check out of her entire body to make sure she isn't hurt. She seems fine, everything moves normally and she has her same attitude about me touching her wings and legs as she normally does. (apparently if I want bird wings and legs I should grow my own and leave hers alone)!
Now every time I walk by the tree with her on my shoulder I have to put my hand in front of her so she can't jump into it!
She tries every time too! And it doesn't even have lights or decorations on it yet! Nothing sparkly, shiny, or bright colored, just a plain Douglas Fir tree sitting in the living room.
