Sydney is now looking for his forever home

Several weeks ago I posted about taking in Sydney on an emergency basis. He is now ready to begin looking for his forever home.

Sydney is an approximately 15-20 year old umbrella cockatoo. Like all U2's he's very sweet, but also very loud. He has a slightly malformed jaw which makes feeding him a little tricky. Right now he's eating a diet of fresh veggies coated with a mixture of finely diced chop and baby food. He's not really eating a lot of the larger pieces, but I keep offering them in hopes he'll figure them out eventually. He does actually like mint and basil. Leafy veggies with strong flavors seem to tolerable, where chunkier veggies he seems to struggle with. I was told he liked men and women equally, but in my house he seems to dislike the men. He has one grating sound any potential homes need to know about. His original human was a tow truck driver and took Sydney to work with him. He mimics the sound of squeally hydraulics. It is truly an obnoxious sound, but it's only occasionally. He doesn't seem to mind my other birds, but would not do well in a home with dogs and cats (he was previously in a home with dogs that terrorized him). I also don't think he would do well in a home with small children, though teenager would be fine. He's relatively quiet as long as he's sitting on a person, and only minimally loud otherwise. He could easily become a problem screamer, but I haven't had a problem with that with the normal activity level in my house. He has been to the vet and had all the standard infectious disease testing done, in addition to basic labs to get a gauge of general health.

I am in the San Diego area. His re-homing fee is $750. This covers my expenses of retrieving him, vet bills, toys, food, and other incidentals. He will come with a cage, toys, and several days worth of his current food. I will also inform my vet of who/where to transfer his records, so the labs will not need to be repeated.

Please message me if you have any additional questions or would like to meet him.
