urgent! please help

Hi. Morgan has started to pass very loose droppings again even though he is on medication.
Now I'm super paranoid something is wrong with him.
His lower belly seems to be shaking/quivering.

He seems kind of poofy? But I dont know what a sick "fluffed up bird looks like. Can someone show me a picture so I can compare?

I called the vet and they said I should definitely bring him in again for a radiograph and a gram stain.
I dont get paid until tuesday so I'm really worried about my baby

Has he bathed today or yesterday? that will cause a bird's presentations to be watery, as will juicy foods or fruits.....what has he been eating ? ? ?

What is he on medication for? Can't offer anything on the abdominal shaking.....

It's a bit difficult trying to offer suggestions without more info.....sorry.....

He did bathe yesterday in his waterbowl according to my mother.
Not much of a fruit or veggie eater, he's only had less than a grape and a bite of an apple.

His medication is baytril and metronidazole, the vet prescribed it to get rid of the diarrhea.

Are the droppings the right color or have they changed? Is he puffed up most of the time ? If its something more serious than loose droppings Baytril wont touch it [and I know from experience]

The baytril is antibiotic which could cause loose droppings, just like antibiotics cans cause diarrhea in humans. The metro is antifungal i believe which is often given to birds at same time as antibiotics because the a-box makes more prone to fungal infection, like thrush or yeast infections in humans.

U could as vet if theywould recommend a pro-biotic to help. If they like them, u could pick so e up for cheap. There r some that r very very expensive, but since u woild need such a small amount, u could get a weak dose.

Make sure birdie is warm enuf. The meds would make me feel yuck, so whynot a bird.

Wondering how u give them? Injections, syringe in mouth, food?

Salso try givng some more food that could firm up droppings. For pritti, bread, pasta, banana, rice cake work well and fast.

I think milk thistle is a great supplement to be given with meds since it helps to support the liver which in turn helps to detoxify the blood in the system...

I'm not a big fan of Baytril since it is a broad spectrum antibiotic and not the best for treating specific bacterial infections.

they are their usual green or brown color, just not as formed as they usually are.
If he had serious diarrhea there would be feces by his vent, correct?
His vent is feces-free

I changed to a different veg once that really changed the droppings. Brought to show the vet and found out it was the change in diet. A clean vent is good. Birds will shake after a bath and ive seen my rehomes do that when there nervous [like stepping up ] or you going to see them.

For peace of mind.. I would not be to concerned with loose stool when on baytril... The quivering and the puffed up might be that he cold...He most likely needs supplemental heat...80-85*F is an ideal temp..

Is he active? Is he eating?(if he is pooping he is eating) Is he eating enough??

He is eating like he usually does.
What are some ways I can keep him warm?
I don't pay the gas bill so I dont have control over the thermostat

Currently I have a blanket covering the back and part of the sides of his cage

If you have any way to cover the whole cage, it would keep the temp inside a couple of degrees warmer than without total covering and it would keep out any breezy.....

Do you have access to a heating pad?? Depending on size of cage..you can place it under the cage cover( make sure the bird doesn't start to tear it apart) and it will raise the temp...make sure you cover the cage completely..

A small covered cage will help with keeping his temp up also..

Also, incandescent light bulbs put out alot of heat (95% heat and 5% light from the energy used). They would heat up the area around the cage too as long as they are safely located. And, if u cover cage for sleeping, u could even leave lights on.

Update:
He made it through the night alright. This morning the chest quivering is more noticeable when it occurs. He still steps up and acts normally when I take him out. However, when he's in his cage the feathers on the back of his neck and on his chest aren't slick to his body (they are fluffed but not to a point where they match how his feathers get when he's excited or mad)
His droppings have gotten more solid.
He will be at the vet tomorrow at 6:30 because that's the only time they had open that would fit my school/work schedule.

One of my friends is driving me and will lend me money if what I have in my bank account doesn't cover the fees. Bless her heart

Another option (and one that I've used) is a ceramic heat lamp... it will give off more heat than a heating pad (unless the bird is directly on the pad), does not give off light (thus not as annoying at night) and does get pretty hot! (i.e. don't put it in the cage!)

I hope you bring up the milk thistle at the vet or at least look into it for him. (your zon)
