How often do you all clean your bird's cage? And what is the best thing to use to clean with?

hey tonia, once a week, Sunday is cage day around here, LOL. We power wash our cages outside. Of course there's a world of deference in the quality of cages.usually the better quality (pricy) cages are easier to clean and hold up better than the cheaper ones. The expensive ones have welded joints and don't trap food and debris like the cheaper ones do. The finish is better and rusting is not as big an issue. Steam cleaning is also a good option and works for us. Chemicals we try and avoid if possible but sometimes you need to use some Clorox. You goal is to not breed bacteria, bacteria needs food, moisture and warm. Those cheaper cages with lots of cracks and crevices are the worst and might need a bit of clorox solution to get where you can't reach.

it;s OK to be a bit neurotic, it's good for your baby. LOL, When i use Clorox i wait 24 hrs . That's about how long if takes for the chlorine to evaporate.

I do daily wipe downs and a power wash once a week.
I use lemon and hot water, and of course all dishes washed daily.

My day starts off cleaning bird cages. I also do it daily. Grates, seed skirts and obvious debris and perches get washed with hot soapy water, paper gets replaced, and all food dishes get a thorough cleaning.

Once a week I remove the grates completely and wash both sides of them.

Once a month the power washer gets a workout. :)
