So I have had Charlie for 2 weeks now... I really don't mess with her other than to feed and water her and change her toys( she is a BIG chewer)
since I put her in Parkers old cage she won't come out...she came out of the old cage onto the door but not this one...I don't want to stress her out by messing with her but I want her know that she can come out if she wants...as far as being able to hold her I have only tried once and got bit rightly so ( she let me know she was gonna bite and I kept pushing the issue)... other than just giving her time is there anything else that I can do to get her to trust me. I know she might not ever want to be petted on like Parker but I do need to at least be able to move her from one spot to another. She hates/is terrified of any type of stick object. I was gonna try target training but all she does is back away...she will take food from me and I can touch her feet through the cage but other than that she just sits and climbs around and "talks" to Parker...

I have thought about getting a heavy duty pair of gloves and just picking her up and letting her sit on my hand without trying to tough her that way even if she bites me I won't react but again I don't want to scare her or traumatize her in any way...We will be leaving to go out of town mid september and she will be going to stay at a friends house so I would like to be able to get her out and take her places first so she is somewhat use to it before we just up and leave her for a week...even though Parker will be there with her I'm sure it will still be stressful and I figure that the more places I can take her first the less stressful it will be

Have you found her favorite treat yet? You can target train her, even if she is afraid of the stick. You should be able to overcome the fear of the training stick by giving her treats with your hand. Then use a short piece of the stick that stays mostly hidden in your hand with a piece of her treat stuck on the end.

I wouldn't worry about taking her places until she comes out of her cage and is calm ,comfortable in different areas of your home. She'll be alright in her cage when you go out of town especially if Parker is near by to reassure her.

I'd work on the target training and get her out and about. it's also a great way to teach her you can be trusted.

I have kind of been trying to get her to come to me to get any treats and she acts like she wants to but never does...not to step up or anything but just to come over to a certain perch... As far as finding a favorite treat I haven't found anything she goes crazy over just yet

Give her a dish with lots of different things and see what she goes for first. Who knows i have a amazon who think pellets fed one at the time are like candy.
