We are making progress! I adopted Virgil 2 weeks ago, the first few days were good then he bit me. After the bite he would charge me anytime I was around. I have been working daily with him, talking, offering treats. If I had a treat no charge but if not treat he was charging with beak wide open eyes crazy. So tonight after about 10 days he starts playing and showing off while I was standing by his cage. Then..... He lowers his head and let's me scratch him for a few minutes. Even tried to step up through the cage. Played with my finger gently exploring and even licked it lol. I'm so excited I was in tears. Praying this is a good sign! :green2:

What excellent progress indeed!! :D

Virgil 'may' have been in breeding mode/hormonal, and now that his hormones are settling down again, he'll be a mellow fellow.

Please don't get discouraged if you see the 'crazy eyes' return. Many Amazons go a bit crazy every once in a while. :)

I'm so happy for you! I'm going through some training issues with my GCC (she wants to attack my husband sometimes) and it's nice to see someone else is also seeing improvements :)

Thank you! I want so badly for this guy to have a great life. He was actually playing, hanging upside down from his toys. That was a first since being with us. Usually he attacks his toys when I walk close to his cage. Now my 5 year old he just adores her! Tonight we are going to be brave and see if I can get him away from his cage!

So tonight... More scratches and playing with his beak. Placed my hand in the cage and he grabs my finger with his foot and Then rubs his beak and head all over my hand. He was beaking my fingers and if the pressure was to much I told him no bite and gently squeezed his beak. Then... He steps up and I removed him from his cage!!!! He sat on his small stand for a few minutes but seemed nervous, he stepped back up and was put back in his cage on the way back he was crouching like he wanted to fly to his cage. He was so sweet!!!!!!

That is awesome news and progress. When I first brought Buddy home I was nervous not knowing what to expect and each success was exciting and rewarding. Now we can't imagine not having him, he's such a character. I can say patience is key and pays off. Congrats!
