When Paco knows that I am busy and he is in his cage he knows that using his sweet voice and asking "step up?" Will get him out. So, I offer my arm to him, he steps up but will refuse to step down to anything except for on my lap on "our" leather chair. One I give in and do this, which I have to so I can get my arm back, he promptly puts his head down and closes his eyes. He demands at least 5 min of me preening him and rubbing his cheeks before he will even think about stepping down on his playstand. He knows I cant resist and uses it to his advantage! It's hard to get anything done with such a sweet little manipulator! If I am not busy doing something, I swear he knows and he will happily go to his playstand or basket..

What I noticed my Blue Front was doing was when I was taking her on my hand to move her she was falling forward in a way so that I would bring my arm to my body and she would then be able to latch on to my clothing and crawl up to my shoulder. She was sneaky here because she knew I didn't want her on my shoulder because she won't get off.

They are just so smart, even their naughtiness is intelligent! You have to give them credit for all thier sneakiness! As soon as Paco sees his cage cover and knows it's night night, he scrambles to his pellet dish because he knows I won't cover him if he is eating. "Just five more minutes Mom!" Thank goodness he hasn't learned your birds trick, Paco is not allowed on my shoulder. I am sure he will figure it out in due time.

One thing my bird also does is if I let her take a bite out of junk food like a Twinkie she will take a bite out of it and leave her beak on the food to quickly take another bite as soon as she can. Of course she takes another bite very quickly.

For other normal food she will normally take a bite and pull her beak away to eat it slowly.

She has learned that if it is junk food she knows that there will be limits and tries to be sneaky to get more of it.

With my tiel Jet I have to be careful eating when he is out. I always share but...
That's not good enough. He has to steal a bite. I only mind because I don't want him to set my saliva.
What I do now is act like I'm going to eat a clean bite and pause just before putting it in my mouth so he can "steal" a piece.

Kyo has an obsession with my lips these days, and I keep getting scared she will get a taste of my saliva one day! She will start preening my face really sweetly, then suddenly grabs my lip and tries to stick her tongue in my mouth! It's so gross and she is doing it obsessively.

It was so cute to have her preening me until she started this nasty little habit. I know she is meaning no harm and she isn't hurting me, but she literally won't stop trying for long periods of time when she is out. It's so funny how they can get obsessed with these little actions.

Oh boy, I understand. Parker keeps reaching for my lips when I am eating too. That or he'll nip at my ear. Based on his biting history (he's gotten my face once and my ear once, both to bleeding) I now do not let him on my shoulder when I'm eating.
