For Father's Day we had a small get together at my house, and we had about 12 people, one being one of my nephews who is 3 yo. I recently moved Buddy's cage ( my 26 yo GCA) by my chair in the living room and he has been a spoiled King. He can now see everything I'm eating so he HAS to have his share (in his mind). No he doesn't always get it so there is a tantrum, but he is vocal about all food.
My 3 yo nephew wanted to see the birds and I brought my Ekkie Venus out so he could see her. She is the best mannered and my nephew loved interacting with her. Now, as my nephew was getting ready to leave for the evening, he jumped in my lap and gave me hugs and kisses. Buddy, was not happy with this, and if there were no bars between us, he would have gotten violent with my nephew. Talk about an angry bird! My nephew looked at Buddy with fear so we had a talk about when he comes over to visit he can only touch the birds if I have them to visit with them on my hand (right now only Venus). He is not allowed to stick his fingers in the cages to pet or feed them without me, they will bite! Now he is 3 yo, a smarty BUT he's also a child and even though we talked (mainly to curb his fear), he looks at the fids with caution. His favorite word right now is "Why?". So explaining why Buddy was suddenly being mean was a challenge.
Beside that event, this was the first time I've seen Buddy get so aggressive over someone touching me. Be wary any intruder that enters this home, lol! Guard bird on patrol!
