Re: Right now Salty is.....

We have never specifically taught any of our Amazons to talk, Amazon sing, etc, let alone on command.

With a new arrival, our home is far too silent. When one climbs to health s/he begins to open up and that begins the joy of encouraging them. And, that clearly explains why I love a noisy Amazon: They are expressing their joy of life and it is a beautiful thing to behold. When they express their joy with Words, its a 'meant' response, example: I Love You, Hi, Hello, Kiss, and so many more endearing moments. Each have their own words and each so richly feel the word when they use it.

From my corner of this large room; I would never do it on Command as I love the simple joy of their want and when they want.

For you and others, please work with your Amazons. There is nothing more enjoyable than an Amazon expressing themselves.

After all, each morning; An Amazon Makes A Promise!

Re: Right now Salty is.....

'Boats it is our pleasure to share Salty's amazing journey with us with all of you on Parrot Forums.
He is truely a member of our family and a parrot thru and thru. I have had parrots almost my whole life, and I've loved each one but Salty is special and not just because he has learned dozens of tricks. He's a companion animal in the best sense of the phrase, but I think most parrots have the potential to be the same, with the right training, stimulation, diet and lots of love. Thank you, bro, for marking the milestones for us.

Re: Right now Salty is.....

First, i want to let all me friends on here that I am OK, and still recovering from quintduple bypass, double pneumonia, having the wrire holding the ribs to sternam come loose, yet another chest opening to install plastes and scrrew the ribs to the, sternum, getting single pneumonia this tiem. So not 100% yet but getting there.

Salty has been getting used to me being home all thetime, I hope when I reurn to work he does not give Geri issues. He has a new thing he does, he washes his toys off first then throws them onto the floor. Quite messy, but at least the floor is clean.

Also, I have to compliment the member who gave me the tip on harness training. Prior to this I has to try and tempt Salty putting his head thru the loop one pine nut at time. He is so quick often he got if befre I could get it over his head. Now,Ijust put the whole bowl of pine nuts in fron the the looop and he sticks his head right thru, no issues. Thanks very much! We even practice twice a training session. Great idea.
