My lovely little Black Cap Conure, Lucy (in the sky with diamonds) <3
I let lucy have free roam of the house when I'm home :) she's clipped for her safety and mine. I'll let her gain flight when I'm sure that if she should get away, she'll come back. Lu jumps from my shoulder, the couch, her cage, everywhere... no injuries at all and she gets a kick out of it haha. she has figured out what's soft and her favorite thing is climbing up her cage (which is about 5' off the ground) then jumping and flapping as much as she can and landing on my super huge fluffly stuffed octopus! I think it's ok :)

edit// lucy is 4 months old

I think what your doing is good. He is at the age where he really wants to fly. Allowing him to flap and get in that stance is going to help develop his muscles and strength for when he is able to fly again, which he sounds like he is very determined to do so.
