Hello fellow parrot fanatics!

I need some suggestions/ideas on what to do about my bitty boy lovebird. He loves to bite. He will bite my lips if I offer him a kiss, he will bite my cheek or neck if he can manage to get a biteful, he bites my earlobes, and he especially likes to bite my hands.

Sometimes he just doesn't want me to pick him up. But that type of biting is only like 25% of the time.

The majority of the time he seems to just be playing and chewing and being rambunctious. He will seek me out to get a beak-full of flesh. I think he likes to chew on me. A good example of this is he will be comfortable on my shoulder playing with the buttons on my shirt and I will be just calmly letting him do that, maybe reading or something while both of my birds treat me like a jungle gym, when he climbs down to my hands to chew my knuckles.

Help? I have tiny little cuts. At one point he was biting me so bad that I flicked his beak to get him to stop but that just encourages him to bite harder
(and makes me feel terrible). Sometimes I blow air on his face and that kind of startles him out of it. I've found through trial and error to just remove my hands if he wants to bite them and only pick him up/play with him if he doesn't try to bite my hands. But there's got to be a better way to train him out of this. Ideas?

My girl bird will protect me if he gangs up on me too bad. She'll run over to my rescue and make him stop biting me. :) Little queen bee puts him in his place.:rainbow1:

Sounds like he's biting out of boredom most of the time.

Can you make a birdy toy necklace to wear that he can play with. Can you make sure to have toys and nick knacks on hand while he's out with you? Things like bottle caps, pony beads, wooden beads, craft sticks, popsicle sticks, etc? Especially *hard plastic* balls with bells?

A ball like this

But *NOT* like this

He could be biting because he's looking for something to do. If you keep his beak busy, then he may be less likely to bite you.
