I think it is but just need another opinion since I'm new to large birds.

Cappy our BG Macaw, female, 8yo, she has lived with us for a few weeks. She has taken a liking to me and tries to regurgitate for me, I try to discourage it by taking my hand back when she grabs it.

She took a liking to be beneath furniture in our bedroom, also pulling at the carpet beneath our dresser. This is the area she always tries to regurgitate for me. She is also a bit territorial over it. Nipped my shoes really good a few times til she realized it was me, chased others out of the room.

We have blocked her from sitting beneath it (sometimes for hours she sat there).

She has now of today taken a liking to our half bath in another part of the house. Sitting between the pedestal sink, wall, and 3 draw tote.

She has been there for several hours, shows signs of territorial towards others. Talks to me and again tries to regurgitate a lot for me. Takes treats and food from me but won't leave the bathroom.

Is it something I should discourage? Block her from the bathroom? Seems to me she will just find someplace else.

Or is it something that will pass in a few weeks? Let it run its course and let her be content for now.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Just an update, she came out several hours later to poop, eat, drink and was a wild bird aka chatty playful social and very active.

This morning was typical, but now she's back in the same spot again doing the same thing.

Well today's actions prove it I suppose. She raised her tail feathers way up and tried backing into my leg. I just dodged/ignored her and she went on to the laundry basket to play.

Stoney, I know nothing about hormones, but I cannot imagine being in a bathroom is a hygienic place 4 any kind of bird. Especially on the floor. No offense an your bathroom could be cleaned 3rd a day, but germs are germs and the is a reason we are supposed to wash hands after using in one.

Def sounds like a hormone action.
