Sometimes I feed my eastern rosella sunflower seeds through the bars of its cage. Completely randomly, it will seem to go berserk and start attacking my finger, absolutely ignoring the seed. It seems to be some kind of seizure, perhaps? I'm not sure what its previous owners did to it, but it's scared of brooms and the like. It used to be scared of hands but I (thought) I got rid of that habit. Are there any ways to get it to stop?

Is there a reason you call your companion an it?

The place I bought her from didn't know the sex/wouldn't tell me the sex. If I knew her/his sex I'd call her by the correct name.

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
Perhaps we will go with her for now then, so much nicer than 'it' dyt?

Without seeing how you approach the cage etc, etc it is very hard to say. Watch your body language, approach gently, talk to her, make her want to come for the treat.

The scared of brooms thing is nothing new, leave one in plain sight parked against a wall for a little while and see if this helps her get used to it. If really freaking then put away and try again another time.

to get her to clam down all you need to do is keep calm, not react and persevere

I found what helped me with my Green Cheek during his tantrums/shouting sessions was to ignore it then when they had truly finished would turn around and say "you done?"

I don't know why but it helped me a lot to get past the frustration

good to see she's calm now. Depending on her age this could be hormones combined with some previous abuse.

The abuse is a long process you can work through just by showing her you're nice and won't hurt her. The hormones are a yearly monster I'm afraid that you have to learn to work through.

good to see she's calming down!

She's a rescue bird who's about 3 years old, so it's very likely she was abused. Haha yeah, she's now molting everywhere.
