Hello,

The babies are doing very well. The youngest one is starting to be weaned by the parents. They still feed them but not as often.

The problem I'm having now though is that the babies don't really go for the pellets. They nibble them a little and then walk away. I've been offering veggies too and they're very meh about it. The eldest is starting to chase down his parents and biting their legs whenever they hold something they are eating but when I offer him the same he only bites it before dropping it.

I have soaked the pellets with juice to entice them but it just doesn't seem to be working. Any advice on something they might like? I'm trying birdie bread soon, I heard before that babies like that.

There are these things you can buy at a bird store called "weaning biscuits" and you put warm water on them and put fruit and veggies mashed too and that's a good thing to wean into. Make sure babies are somewhat hungry when you offer it.

Try sprouts that you sprout yourself. Add in finely chopped veggies.

The birdie bread worked pretty well. I made it yesterday and they laid next to it for a while nibbling but I didn’t really think they were eating that much. A few hours later I checked in on them again and the bread was considerably smaller than the piece I offered them. And I know booger and darling didn’t eat it because I offered them their own piece and they bit it once before walking away lol

I was getting a bit worried they weren’t eating enough as they were being weaned by the parents lol.

They’re so crazy now, yesterday they started trying to take a bath it was so cute. And they started drinking water too, or well at least it’s the first time I see them do it.

I’m going to try sprouts too and chopping the veggies a bit finer.

It's great that you're offering the babies all kinds of solid foods...However, you do need to keep in-mind that the parents know what they're doing, and THEY are the ones who are weaning the babies, not you. It's important that you provide them with the pellets, the veggies, etc., but if they aren't eating them, it's because they just aren't ready to. You can actually kill a weaning baby with "kindness", it's not unusual at all. People often think they are helping when in-fact they are interfering with the natural weaning process...Always look at the crops of the babies, not the amount of food left, as you must realize that they aren't going to be eating much solid food at all while in the weaning process, because not only are they eating less food total each day, but they are still being fed by the parents, even if you don't see it happening!

Don't give in and not provide the with the pellets, that's a must; and do not just start giving them seed!!! The only reason the babies will chow-down immediately on seed is because they are like candy to them! Again, the amount of solid food they are going to be eating while weaning is not going to be a lot at this point, as they are still being fed by the parents. So just provide the pellets, veggies, fruit, etc., and then let mom and dad do what they do. The only time you should start worrying is if you look at a baby's crop at several different times throughout a day and it's always empty, and then this repeats again the next day. Then there might be an issue, but usually if the parents have fed their babies up until this point with no issues, then they will wean them just fine as well.
