So I have a fairly mixed flock, and most of them live in my bird room. I can tell most of their voices apart even within the same species, but I have noticed that someone in the flock at least, though it sounds different enough that I think it is SEVERAL someones, is learning new sounds. They refuse to make these sounds when I am there however. It is mostly odd whistles that don't fit into the noises any of them are known to make. It is just kind of fun. I suspect Kiowa, one of my cockatiels, Scout my IRN, and Cache, my yellow-sided GCC as the ones most likely to be expanding their repertoire.

Riley-white faced grey cockatiel (hatch date 6-28-2014) RIP Halloween-pied cockatiel
That sounds like fun I can't wait to bring Riley home and teach her new sounds. Mostly I just can't wait to bring her home.

That happens sometimes with my flock as well, that I can't tell who is saying what. They all have distinct voices, but are now copying each other..lol.
Some of mine will talk when I am in the room, but Ekko absolutely clams up as soon as he sees me. I have to be sneaky to hear him.
Wonder where your guys learned the new sounds from?

Well I only have 4, but it's the 2 Poi's that sound similar. Interesting how (besides learned sounds) the Red Bellied parrot and the Ruppell's parrot actually share some natural noises. Sometimes I'm not sure who it is, although in general, Griffin's voice (Ruppell's) is a little "smaller" sounding if that makes sense. I'm wondering, and willing to bet that all the Poicephalus, especially the 5 smaller members of the genus do share some really similar sounding 'basic' calls. Of course there are also some species specific noises too. :)

One learned sound that Robin does is a Sun Conure noise from when we lived near one. Thankfully, Robin is not capable of blasting it as loud and powerfully as a real conure lol. He does the "Conure, Red Bellied parrot style" :)

Upon more sneaky spying, I think it is Cache, which is interesting because she is a female GCC.
