Butter the Budgie
I've been keeping Butter in my bedroom for a few days. Everything has been going well except for my allergies getting worse. Today I found an article that says people who share a room with their bird can get something called "bird keeper's lung." Could this happen even if I have only 1 budgie in my room? Will it still be a problem even if I change his newspapers at least once a day?

I do not have the definitive answer, techno talk for 'full of dog poop', but most likely that article is referring to old world parrots. But that being said, depending on your sensitivity, Butter could be kicking up more dust than you can tolerate! Hopefully, now, this thread is bumped back to the top, so folks who Do know what they are talking about will chime in!

Hmm that sound unlikely, but who knows?! Maybe invest in an air purifier for your bedroom.

I got an ionizer type air filter from eBay and all my problems went away. You could also try letting some fresh air in just make sure butter isn't out. Even if you havea screen i wouldn't trust it.
