Just a couple of snapshots of my new baby Glorie :) My dear friend is the breeder, and I nearly died when I saw this clutch. I basically threw my money at her and screamed "MINE MINE ALLLLL MIIIIIINE!" I took one for myself, and one for a friend of mine who has been waiting for a baby from me. Glorie hatched on the last day of 2015, and her little brother Makali'i hatched on the first day of 2016!

More to follow :)

Glorie on the left, Makali'i on the right

Glorie on the far left

front and center :) basically she is always the brightest one!

Just a note; yes, I brought these two birds home at 4 weeks, however I do not support the sale of unweaned babies to the general public. I am a breeder and an experienced hand feeder. The breeder is a personal friend who has seen me hand feed many times. I have access to veterinary support as well as several other breeders in case I run into problems. Buying a bird unweaned does NOT lead to better bonding no matter what the breeder tells you.

I'm not a cockatiel person but these little guys are adorable and gorgeous! Such an interesting colouration.

They are precious. Are they for pets or the breeding program? I love the pearls, and it's so interesting seeing them as babies and already knowing the genders up from like that. I love other people's cockatiels and hearing about them. They are such adorable birds.

These are both strictly pets, but I hope to acquire a male from her for breeding some day. We recently placed out beloved cockatiel Battle with a young boy to be his service animal, and we had a cockatiel sized hole in our flock at exactly the right moment :) I have babies right now who are cousins to these guys; the mothers are sisters.

I'm trying to get pictures up but my technology isnt cooperating :p They have both fully busted out of their pins now and both have ASTOUNDING crests! OMG I am so beyond stunned by them lol.

Both are dominant silver pearls, but we are seeing some interesting traits in Glorie that lead us to suspect something else is in the mix as well. Ariel will likely test breed, I am excited for the outcomes!!

Cockatiels are seriously an addiction. Part of it is, for me at least, how easy it is to add to the flock compared with a lot of other birds. The WORST tiel I have ever seen seriously just pretends the other birds aren't there. And they are such spunky little guys with so much attitude but so little inclination toward biting... And they come in soooooo many colors! And they whistle! And cuddle! And OMG I AM AN ADDICT!!!

The whole clutch is weaned now... It was hard for me when they quit wanting to be my lil babies and need me to feed them lol. Glorie and I went to a local botanical garden the other day and I will send pics as soon as I can! Makali'i's new brother Beau the Lovebird is staying with us this week while their mommy is out of state, and they are getting along swimmingly :) I am resisting a couple of craigslist ads SO HARD right now, cockatiels being thrown away like leftover food. It makes me cry. I honestly feel that of all parrots cockatiels are the bird with the BEST pet potential, I hate that so many people seem to see them as a stepping stone to something "cooler" and I get EXTREMELY upset when people say stupid things like "But I want a REAL parrot." It makes my blood boil. BUT when my blood boils I can snuggle a birdy and that brings my blood pressure down lol.
