i need to rant!

sorry in advance but i feel so angry! i was in the petshop today buying supplies and there was a cockatiel in a cage, the pet shop staff told me his previous owner had dumped him there cos they wanted a hand reared tiel to cuddle! the cockatiel that has been dumped looks so confused, he even talks, and has been put in a cage with other tiels. i just feel so upset that he has been given up cos they want a cute tame baby!! part of me wanted to bring him home but i dont think i have the room for another cage, i feel so upset and mad at these people. its one thing to give a bird up cos you can no longer care for it but to dump it cos you need to use its cage for another one is beyond belief! sorry, i had to get it out, only you guys would get it x

Given the situation, the poor bird may end up in better shape if purchased from the pet shop by someone who will value him for the bird that he is. I understand your rant and agree with your sense of outrage. I would encourage the pet shop to put him in his own cage with a big sign that says, "I talk!" and see if that doesn't find him a happier home. Also completely agree with your "where are earth would I put another cage" sensation.

Some people seem to have a screw or 1 loose or even missing when it comes to caring for birds
glad the petshop took him in though and I hope to god he finds a good loving home soon

Urgh.

I can't say what I think without writing an essay(again) about these people(AGAIN!), but it's back to the age old thing how the people who care can't do it all. Hopefully someone just as clever and understanding as you will rescue him Melly xx

awww thanks von. i do keep thinking about him. i guess i was thinking if it was one of my babies, the thought of giving one up and replacing with a baby, i could never. i don't get how people can do it, not when they show so much love to you even if they're not hand tame. but i'm sure someone more deserving will look after him like he deserves. x
