My normal thermostat is set for 69 when I'm home, occasionally up to 70. At night it turns down to 65 (birds will be covered), but when I'm out of the house it turns down to 62 - is that too cold during the day when I'm at work? Should I adjust the minimum away temp up to 65 or higher?:

I think it is the heat that is most harmful to birds. You should be fine. :)

What's too cold is more a matter of what the bird is acclimated to. For example, outdoor aviary birds are 'used to' much colder temps than our indoor friends have ever been exposed to. For your new boys it probably wouldn't hurt to go to 65.
