I would LOVE to get one of these!

I love the sound of running water (it's so relaxing and reminds me of nature!). I would love to get an indoor water fountain like this... my tiels would be crazy for it!

Would this be bird safe?? My only concern is don't I need to put bleach in that after a while to prevent it from getting old moldy/nasty and whatnot?

Looks nice. Think you maybe would need chemical assistance with the water which makes it a no, no. I have wondered if these would contribute to indoor mold as they raise the humidity level? (based on UK and UK weather)

It's such a TINY amount of water I would not be concerned about it raising humidity levels. I live in south Florida (UNFORTUNATELY I hate it cannot wait to move!!) where it is always horribly muggy/humid and gross outside. Here people have the AC running 24/7 and the AC does a fantastic job of removing humidity indoors

My tiels would make a HUGE mess with that fountain plus as you said the chemicals I'm sure it needs is a NO NO... ah well.

My little maxie loved to throw the pebbles out of our fountain, it was really funny to watch, as he would get quite angry at them. Never did him any harm, it broke 3 years before he passed away.

The amount of bleach that you would want in there, is probably not much more than what is in your drinking water!

Along with the PCB's, dioxin, fluoride, DDT, arsenic (lots of it in rice! I'm referring to the inorganic arsenic caused by humans not the organic arsenic naturally occurring in the soil), toxic metal salts, Chlorine, Dacthal, lead, HCB, mercury, Perchlorate, MtBE, pesticides and hormones... and this is just the short list of crap that comes out of your faucet all thanks to HUMANS destroying this earth every second of the day year round NONSTOP. Animal agriculture is responsible for at least 91% of Amazon destruction. It's quite disgusting.

PS: Is this why my tiels glow in the dark at night?

I wonder if filling the fountain with distilled water would lessen the tendency to grow mold? You could drain periodically and let stand outside to dry before restarting the process inside.

Other option is to buy one of those stand-alone noise generators that have water sounds, thunder, etc. (of course you have plenty of that in FL!)

I Can't believe I didn't think of that! I'm having to get liquid cooling in my home PC and will need to get distilled water for that. Don't know about in the open air but in a computer it only needs replacing every 6 months to stop build up of mold. I think the biggest worry with a fountain would be certain winged creatures splashing water on nearby plug sockets

LOL... yes too much of that unfortunately! I have that pretty much every single day these past few months... it's actually raining, thundering and really nasty and miserable outside right now for the past several hours which is why I didn't manage to get to Trader Joe's this morning. I'm also due to take a 45 min drive to get my tiels nails done but I would rather NOT be on the highway in this weather the way people drive in these incredibly slippery conditions with no common sense. I rather not risk my life... and the way people drive in the rain proves they couldn't care less about theirs.

I remember when I drove 4 hours to adopt 'Nut. I nearly died the way people drive when it is pouring so hard you can barely see out the window! I was stuck on a 2 lane highway for a long portion of the way, Yikes!! 'Nut was worth it though hehe.

On the distilled water thing, no. One it's bad for people that drink it, we need the minerals, fluoride and all that. But worked in a semiconductor plant and even the CLEANEST water ever made ...will start growing algae and bacteria in minutes. It's even more likely without the chlorine and fluoride etc. This is one area where you city water supply or expensive bottled water has it over technology....super duper clean de-ionized water is basically a petire dish ready to go. Tap water or filtered tap water is safer.

If you want a clean fountain add a little 3% hydrogen peroxide to tap water, add a teaspoon or so a week maybe...safe enough to drink safe enough to play in, but don't use distilled water...it's breeding ground.

Ummm... sorry I but I for one cannot wait until I can move back to the EU (Hungary) where this outrage is banned and the government is not dumping this man created ineffective TOXIC POISON (fluoride) into my drinking water!!!

I knew not to drink distilled, but using tap water for this purpose definitely now makes better sense!
