My Goffin Bella

We just brought home Bella a few days ago and she is doing great. She is very sweet and says "Hello" and "Hi". Since this is my first time with a cockatoo... Any advice? Do they have any special treats they like? or Games? What is the best way to teach them new words? Also the man I got her from had her on a mostly seed diet which I know is unhealthy... What Veggies and fruits should I add? Something to get her interested. I tried to get her to have apples slices (with seeds removed)... She just picked them up and dropped them... idk.Its not letting me attach pictures so I will make her my avatar.

Beautiful Goffin!

I have five Goffins, and while they each have favorites, a few foods are liked by all:

Corn-on-the-cob.... the "logs" are cut into "wheels" and quartered. Easy to hold. Oddly, most of my birds dislike loose corn from a bag!

Apple, yam/sweet potato, endamame pods, (soybeans) cantaloupe/melon seeds, banana, watermelon, whole cranberries. Some of the 5 like peas, lima beans, and pear. Whole grain/multigrain spiral noodles are also a hit.

Once a week they'll get whole-grain bread. All but one enjoy an occasional small piece of string-cheese. Some are cannibals and will eat an occasional piece of turkey.

Don't give up offering varied foods. Once or twice a week they are offered carrot and blackeyed peas, but so far no nibbles. Yet it took a while for all of the above foods to be enjoyed.

Hey Scott, not trying to sound condecending, but many of the threads that your are posting to are old to very old, in many cases the original poster is no longer an active member.....just food for thought, enjoy the forum
