Bathing a Cockatoo

So I got word and shampoo from the vet that to help Loki heal I was to Bath him...?... Not shower . BATH like a sick full of water he had to soak for 5 to 10 ten mins in this shampoo LOL

I thought to myself ok I know loki is easy going but im not coming out of this with my fingers. So I got everything ready, and filled the sink with nice warm water, added the shampoo to the water, even got him a litte rubber duck ! Then I went for loki, he was playing nice in his room and was not expecting what was coming. I took him to the kitchen and plopped him in the water which had bubbles and a duck floating in it and started the 10 min timer. HE PLAYED !!! for 10 mins my biggest trouble was him drinking the water with the shampoo in it. What bird likes a full sink of water ? He chased the duck around and I gave him a face cloth and he played with that on his head for a few mins. I wish I would have video taped it ! He has to have one next week too so I will tape that one. I wrapped him up in a towel and he is now playing in his cage drying off.

Such a good boy ! Lets hope it stops his itch.

Wow!!! Folger would kill me for that one. He absolutely hates water time...

I hope the bath helps the itching! Did he rip his sock off? Folger usually gets it frayed quite a bit after a few hours.

yea he ate it right down the center LOL made it easy to take off atleast.

Wow....you got lucky with him liking the bath water like that....my previous U2 would of freak out and take off flying before I could get him into the sink or tub.....
