Health ? - Stuffy Nose

Fancy in all other ways seems fine but for the past couple of days she's been sounding a little stuffed up in the nose. I've looked at her nares and see no mucus or anything that would cause concern (to my ignorant eyes). Again, she's acting just fine - noisy, perky, etc.

Should I make an appointment with the vet? I'm used to cats so what might not be an emergency with a cat might be a dire case with a bird, and vise versa. That's why I'm asking here. You guys know what's going on and I sure as heck don't!

Also if I need to go to the vet what do you think might be the problem? This seems to have cropped up since we got the Coway air purifier. The ionizer function is turned off and kept that way.

What is your humidity like?
Are you running your central heat?

I'm just thinking it might be dry air but I'm a long way from being a CAV.

The heater is on but not really running. We live in the Atlanta area, and, while the temps are starting to head downward, it's still warm enough here that the furnace doesn't kick on often.

This time of year is when my husband replaces the furnace filter and adjusts the humidifier. Do we need to turn the humidifier up?

I really don't know. Do you have a hygrometer in the house?
If so what is the humidity?
I try to keep mine between 50-55%.

Again I don't know if humidity is the culprit but it is one thing I'd check.

Recent changes stress birds which can allow a health issue to crop up, nay e something chronic she was dealing with but now isn't, or something new. I would treat it as an illness and take to the vet until proven otherwise. A lit of birds suffer from vitamin A and D defeceint and that loweres their immunity. Do you feed veggies high in vit A? You do not have to see a running nose or discharge for them to still have a respiratory infection...I'd go to the vet. Worry about humidity later in GA I doubt you have problems with low humidity..

Here's another question: Can 'toos get the hiccups? As I'm reading these posts I hear her in the other room, and it sounds like she has the hiccups. I've only had her a month but I've never heard that from her before.

I'll call the vet tomorrow and see about getting her in.

I don't know... But could be mimicking... Mine can copy a cough I have GERD so cough then they all copy lol I hope all goes well at vet. Many birds moved to a new home often get sick from the stress of changes..
