The cage is here!!!!

I picked up the new cage for Bobby. It's still in the boxes as we need to clean the parrot room first.

Our plan is to set it up in the room, and hope they don't all freak out. How we get bobby transitioned to his new home is TBD, but he has no proplem playing and eating in our CAG's cage.

So we have this on white:

How to avoid the all to common: "My Bird(s) Hate the New Cage!"

- Complete the assembly process over Several Days.
- Set the Large Parts around the room. (also helps you inspect them along with the Birds).
- Set one or two large bath towels on the floor (if anything other than carpeted flooring)
- Assembly the cage over a couple of days on the towel(s).
- Set the front (side with door) upside down with the legs point up and the door opening out against the wall.
- Set a side section (upside down) along either end of the front side and bolt together.
- Do not tighten screws until all four side are together!!!
- Now set the other side on the opposite side of the front section.
- Now bring the back section into place between the two side sections.
- Slide the trays into place (upside down), commonly one at the bottom of the cage and one at the top of the cage.
- The step above assures that the cage is squared or at least very close.
- Square each corner as you tighten the screws.
- Now with ease, install the roller wheels (really easy with the unit upside down).
- Tilt the cage on to its back. You will note that the trays will stay in place...
- Now lift from the top of the door side of the cage so that the unit sits on its wheels.
- Install grates and interior parts. FYI: Sliding trays in or out prior to placing the grates can help in placing some of the larger interior bits.
- Assemble /install the top play stand.

Having your birds being an active part of this process can be a pain, but they far more quickly warm-up to the new cage much faster.

Can't wait to hear how Bobbi responds to the new cage. If my G2s are any indication, he will readily accept a new palace.

He doesnt like the perches we bought, but they're not in a cage. He climbs in to the CAG's cage when everyone is out. Eats pellots from there too. We're hoping.

I have to build the cage in the room, as it's wider than the door. It would be nice if it didn't bolt together, but no worries if it does. Once it's up and we have the perches in it, we're going to leave and see how he like it.

The two other birds also need to deal with this big new thing in their room, but they should be ok. Tge CAG is pretty good with new things, and the Quaker, is, well, he's an alarm system

Every time we've ordered a new cage for somebody (three times, plus a couple of cages we bought off the shelf at a store), Hubby has just unpacked and assembled and shoved it into the bird's designated space and that was that. I move the bird's stuff in and say, there ya go. LOL If YOU don't make a big deal out of it, the bird probably won't, either.
