Percy the RB2
Some of you may remember a few months back when I was struggling with my newly gotten RB2 Percy. I kind of feel silly looking back because everything is going great now.

I do want to note that everything I’m talking about, except for going on walks, was done even when I was debating on not keeping him.

He’s so smart he has an “inside voice” and “outside voice”, we go outside in the backyard for about 30 minute where he just lets loose screaming.

He has three cages. A sleeping one in my room, a large one in the living room he plays in, on and around, and the third in my office while I work/write/apply for jobs. I work part time rn, and got accepted into a grad school program! The only way I won’t go is if I get my preferred job.

The grad program is in Australia, and at first I was worried since they don’t allow domestic birds from anywhere besides New Zealand but they are currently revisiting that policy and are putting an update out on September 19th. I wouldn’t be able to take him for a year after I go anyway just to make sure 1. I want to stay there for a long time and 2. Make sure I have a place for him. My parents will, thankfully, be looking after him. My cats will come first, just because they are less likely to adapt well without me home (both were rescues and one has intense abandonment issues).

Speaking of my cats, they get along fine. Actually Percy will beat them up if they get too close lol.

Also, I knew he loved attention but didn’t know he was an attention wh*re. Like in front of strangers we get this perfectly behaved, adorable talking bird. Says hello, I love you, whatcha doing, good morning, hi, good boy etc. Meanwhile I just get “I’m a good boy” 100 times in a row lol. I love it.

Lastly, I don’t think I got a bird. I think I have a bat. A solid 60% of his play time is spent hanging upside down.

It took some time but it’s all falling into place, which I’m super grateful for.

Well congratulations on the settling in of your Too.

I understand that there is a romance about traveling to a grad program in Australia, but that involves costs, etc, that such a program in your area can also provide. Also, international travel continues to change as this monster virus continues to vary.

Once again, congratulations!

Thank you! But this was actually something that has been in the works for a long time, I just didn't think I would get in (but I did!). I also have plenty of financial aid for it and hope to fully move over there (or to london) based on my career path and personal needs. I also have a lot of friends in the same city I'm going to.

I also think Percy would love it there as well since he loves looking out windows and bird watching himself.
