Shouting at afternoon

Hello people,

I have a grey, which is 15 years old. He's very nice and I can handle it without any problem.
It's been for years that at afternoon around 16h when the family is at the living room (where his cage is) watching the tv, he starts to shout very loud the same word over and over.
It's not because he is in his cage and wants to go out, because he does it even if he's out of his cage at that time. (At least I don't think so)

I want to avoid this conduct but my problem is that I don't know what is triggering it, I've tried doing clicker training and click when he's silence but it didn't work.

What do you think I could do?

This is him :D

Thank you for your help.

My guess he wants something hun. My RB2 will tell me at 4 pm, it's her tea time! She has got used to this before me but still likes the routine.

Are any of you eating, has he had his tea? It sometimes takes a bit to guess what it is they want.

Hello,
To be honest I think he wants attention from the family. Now with the lockdown I'm working from home every day and he does this shouting thing at mornings as well, but not with the same intensity.

You would guess he doesn't have toys or something to get distracted himself, but the reality is that he has toys in his cage, and food in his dish.

My other guess is because the primary food in his diet is fruit, and therefore he's very active because of the fruit sugar. I'm already changing that introducing him vegetables, but he only accepts carrots. I've tried with big chunks and all chopped and mixed with fruits, but he's so picky and cherry picks what he likes. I want to try with those parrot muffins recipes.

Do you think changing the diet could change his mood about that?

Thank you.

To refresh my memory and prepare a good home to a bird, I turned to youtube.com at first, then I found this forum. I made folders in youtube using the save function. Some of my favorites are (type in search window) wiingsNpaws or Mandi and Rio among others.
For your situation eating a wide variety of veggie's is important BUT at given times. Diet is a primary function to deal with and is species important. One thing is type's of veggie's and another is it's size. It's temperature is also important, it needs to be at room temp. Size is important for different species and some need to be steamed or cooked as well; just depends on your bird. First you have to see what they WILL eat and how they like it; cooked, raw, large medium or small pieces. Always at room temp. I keep saying this because you can make a big batch and freeze it for later, then thaw it out. in this way you can make a bit of variance from meal to meal. You need to remove fruits from main diet and use them as treats. Size of meal will be determined by the amount they will eat at a "given" time. Training is to be done before or well after a mealtime. Foraging by the bird is also important (wingsNpaws)
Watch the following, Taylor Trains an Amazon Parrot by AnimalWonders Montana remember a lot of video's are applicable to different species or with minor mods.
Patience, Observation and timing are keys. Even among same type of bird, yours and you will present variables. jh

Just like small kids, too much sugar amps them up. A small amount of fruit is OK but a bowl of cherries is certainly not that, as far as behavior goes (American euphemism ).
Either restrict the amount to a few pieces or subbing some veggies. Salty gets like 2 grapes or 4 blueberries or 3 black berries as his afternoon snack. Any more and he becomes a screaming meemy.
