My wife is going to kill me...............BUT (UPDATE)

I'm wanting an African Grey be it a CAG or a TAG. My wife is not really wanting a second bird, but I do. I'm needing some good arguments for getting a second bird. Any ideas?:32:

well nothing works better then bein slick, so just woo her all over again, an then blindside her with the gray!!! lmao

no use in arguing, she will win!

or you can say:-

1 i always wanted to live with 3 birds.....

2 it will be good for tiki........

3 oh look tiki changed colours......oh an back again.....

4 i found this.........

5 or do some decorating an when she see's a gray, reply you said you wanted gray!!!

Thank you Spirit, my point exactly!

But, eventhough, it's right on point, my wife isn't keen on another bird to wake her up in the morning with a few squawks, screeches and such. My argument for getting a Senegal was that they were noiseless and great apartment birds since they are so quiet. Well, Tiki has not been all that quiet, especially in the mornings and some times during the day she'll cut loose with a few squawks. She really raises the roof when I leave the house. As an example, I fly radio controlled planes as one of my hobbies. Tiki was getting a little noisy when I was loading up my planes and gear. But it seems once I left the house, she started squawking, chirping, squealing constantly until my wife had to give her a time out and put her back in her cage and cover her with what we call her "Time out sheet". So when I got back home an hour later, I found Tiki in Time out. As soon as she heard my voice, she started making kissy noises and chirping.

So needless to say, I felt bad that I was out having fun, while my wife and Tiki were having punishment issues.

I noticed that my wife can leave the house any time she wants and not a PEEP from Tiki the whole time she's gone. But if I leave, Tiki raises the roof. So, this is making my wife not so keen on a second bird or a first bird either for that matter. So I can't go to the old they are quiet birds well again because Tiki has kind of worn that out. hahahahahaha. Don't get me wrong, my wife loves Tiki dearly, but sometimes Tiki tests her patience.

All good suggestions Sue, but after 36 years of being married to me, I think she knows my ever move. I'm trying to change tactics, but she seems to stay one step ahead of me. As an example, I've tried to get her to ride over to a fairly local breeder, who is hand feeding a clutch of baby CAG's & TAG's, which are close to two months old so she can see them and talk to the breeder. But Nooooooo, she says that she knows me and if I go, I'll be coming home with another bird. I respond, "WHO MEEEEE, no way" hahahahahahaha.

just make sure the baby bonds with her more. If I bring home a animal and tell my partner at the last min. I would be forgiven...

When I decided that I wanted to get a GCC, my husband said no way. Soooooo I proceeded to find a breeder who I called. She said she still had the bird I was interested in. Hubby still said no way. Then I showed him the cage I liked online, he said no way, and 3 days later it arrived ups. A week or so after that, a friend went with me for the two hour trip each way to get Rio. Now my hubby gets Rio out for cuddle and playtime everyday! lol.

Its a shame that greys talk so late, you could have the breeder to teach it to say "I Love you, 'insert wifes name'" That would cinch the deal for sure, lol.

You could use a white lie and say you rescued it from a pet shop that neglected it. Say you and it had an instant bond and you had to save it.

That or your friend had bought one but realized he was allergic and sold it to you just to get his money back. Or as a re homing fee.

I know, that would have made it a bit easier.

Maybe something is crying out RESCUE BIRD, instead of a baby, you could teach it to say anything you want. :grey:

Well, what i used to do to my poor parents was bring animals home, and tell them i wa slooking after them for friends on holidays... aftre about 2 week they would have just accepted that new pet.... it worked for me years ago might be worth a try
