So after a discussion in a recent thread about tricks. The subject of potty training came up.

When I got chichi they sent him with flight suits, now that he's comfy with me and I'm tired of getting pooped on I was thinking of trying one tomorrow. They had cut up lil panty liners with the sticky on the bottom. I guess they put them inside to keep him from ruining the suits. which is a great idea.

Anyone use flight suits? Good experiences...bad? If you haven't used them have you thought about it. Etc. Curious to see what y'all think. :green2:

Well, we just got ours today, so I haven't tried it with my GCC's. I'll give you an update tomorrow when I introduce it to them.
P.S.: What is the size, do you know? Because people and various websites say junior small, but I got small by mistake. :( If it doesn't fit I'm going to return it. Just curious. =)

I attempt to use a flight suit. LOL.... Every time Cooper sees it she starts running! She is still getting use to it but once she is in it she seems not to mind it. But I only have a problem with getting her in it. Other then taking some time for them to get use to it seems to work out pretty good and they are cute on them looks like little bathing suits! LOL!

@ ConureCrazy I got a small and Cooper is about 7 months and it is a little bit big on her.. I sewed the side of mine back a little and it fits her fine.. Good Luck

Thank you Kern. My girls are 5 months, so I guess I'll have to sew it, or just return it, but sewing is probably a better option... =)

Yeah defiantly update I this thread so I can see how it turned out. I'm going to try also tomorrow. And you know, pics are always fun! And the 2 I have I got in his belongings and they have no tag in them. So I'm not sure. But at first I was wondering what the cut up panty liners were for then I seen one stuck inside the flight suits. How clever!!

I use a flight suite for my GCC . It was not to hard to get her use to it , I just started out making her wear it for about 5 min a day and then increased the time little by little . She really does not like it so it is just for going outside so she doesn't fly away . She won't potty in it either. she waits til we come in and as soon as I take it off she runs to her stand and poops. She doesn't usually poop on me , she hops off ,poops and then hops back on me : )
They are very easy to potty train . as soon as they poop make a big deal about it and say " oh good poop " and praise them for it . that way they start to associate the word poop with them pooping.
Then once they learn what it means you can teach them to do it at certain spots like at their stand or on a napkin. I hold mine over the trash can every morning (that's a really big poop cause they hold it all night ) so I like that to go straight in the trash : )

I'll keep you updated as promised! I'll post pics later. Yeah, the liners are a smart idea. It makes the flight suit reusable. =)

And you won't need to gather a load of laundry to wash a tiny birdy swimsuit lol. And prolly like socks it would come up missing. Lol. Oh I'm excited to try it now. Seems like they are arent as difficult as I thought.

This was a bad idea. Lol. I can't get one wing in without him pulling the other out. It's not so easy to put on. I quit! Good luck to you tho! Lol

I've never really liked the idea of flight suits, I'd rather put a towel on my shoulder if I'm worried about it. It just doesn't seem sanitary to hold the poop there. But Scooter potty-trained himself and the other two have much drier poop. What I would like to do is harness train him so I can take him outside more comfortably. His wings are trimmed, but he has enough flight that I wouldn't trust he couldn't get loose and we have predators galore around here. My husband watched a hawk take a quail right out of our backyard!

My Forrest hates flight suits. Constantly chewing on his "backpack".....I was hoping you would have good luck, but sounds like you are not.
I quit using his for a long time and tried again recently. It was a disaster. When I opened it to take him out of the suit, he went nuts and somehow got it twisted around his neck, he flopped in the floor, I honestly thought he was going to die. It took forever to get him untangled. That was it for me, I use it to keep him off the tv. He won't go near it. LOL
He always hated it even when I did it every day and was always a problem when he came out of it, I had to be very careful. But the last time was horrible, so I vowed to never use it again.

I heard of somebody whose bird wasn't a very touchy bird except in the shower-so that's where he would put on the flight suit. She wouldn't tolerate it other places but in the shower she was fine with it!

I agree with this. When I was looking at flight harnesses for taking Boomer iutdoors, I read about folks using them as diapers. I would think that the poop would very easily touch his vent area which would cause sanitary issues too. Just my 2c. Everyday for us is a game to not get pooped on, still working on potty training Boomer. He knows where to poop but sometimes I swear he does it to make a statement lol!
