Boomer's Photos and Videos (UPDATED 3/1/13)

Hello! I know, I know, this is another one of those vain threads! Sorry, but I can't help it! Who doesn't want to share pictures of their pride and joy right!!?? If its any consolation, every time I have a new picture or video to share of Boomer, I will keep them all tidy and organized in this little thread I've thought of using a blog instead but its better sharing to a community of bird caretakers.

Boomer is our 6 month old Sun Conure who we got from a nice local breeder. We don't know for sure if he is a guy, just assumed he is. He's been with us since early March. He has two human flockmates, me and my partner, and two bird flockmates, 6 month old budgies, Capa and Quark. He is a very loving, cuddly, energetic, curious, playful, voracious, sometimes playfully nippy, sometimes screechy little bird. We love him!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and videos I'll be sharing.

This was Boomer's first trip to the local park. It was back in late in April. He was very curious of the big blue sky, he didn't care for the grass...

Antoinette, Danny, thank you for dropping by!!!

Here's a few more. The first one is cute, but I was concerned of his pink nares around this time, sometime in early June. Even with regular showers/misting and an air filter, it persisted. I read it was from low humidity in the air, so I added several small to large potted dracaena plants in the apartment. I don't know if that helped, but his nares are back to normal now, although it would still turn pinkish from time to time...

This was around mid June I think. Boomer's second and third trips to the park. He didn't have any of that yummy human food, although he tried. He had his seeds nearby...

I love Boomer. He's a spoiled little guy. If he doesn't like something he does this awful screech that is very different than his regular one. LOL!

Here's a video before I retire for the night. I've actually shared this here before but I just wanted to keep them all in one thread, so I am resharing. Excuse the shaky camera, I'm still trying to get better at taking videos. I'll share more tomorrow! Thanks for watching!

What great pictures! That's a busy, well socialized birdie for sure!

I hate to be a kill joy, but napping with a bird is fairly risky. I know of two cases where that scenario ended poorly. It's very tempting, but.... I'm sorry, I just couldn't not say anything...

Debs: That’s actually just fake sleeping haha! You're not a kill joy at all! I really appreciate the concern. Sometimes people forget or may do things innocently not knowing it could harm their bird so I’m very glad people in these forums look out for everyone.

Glad to hear it! I can't quite get Scooter to mellow out enough to fall all the way asleep. He'll curl up in my hand and be 99% asleep, then all of sudden he's ready to play again.

Did I say how adorable Boomer is?

This batch is from July. More of Boomer on his weekend neighborhood walks. In the later pictures you could tell Boomer's feathers started looking a little raggedy, he started heavily molting around this time...




















That last picture is of the foraging toy I made him, filled with bits of broken popsicle sticks and chop sticks, straw, pellets, seeds and dried red hot chilli peppers! It looks like it belongs to an alien movie, but he loves it!
