Conure screams

Hey everyone! I was just wondering if most conures scream in the morning and at night. When I first got Lola she would scream when I first woke her up and when the sun would go down. I had read that this is normal parrot behavior. However now she doesn't scream at all! Is this bad? When she did scream I would whisper to try to quiet her down but I haven't heard much more than little peeps from her for the last two and a half weeks (i've only had her three weeks). Is her silence a sign that she's unhappy? I know some people say parrots scream for many reasons, and one of them is joy. Does anyone else have a silent bird?

She might of learned that screaming doesn't please you. I would prefer a none screaming conure over a screaming one. Conure scream just gets to me and drives me insane. Have you had her checked out by a avian vet? If not you should just to be on the safe side.

My greek cheek only screams in the mornings for just a few minutes, and it can be extremely loud (I call it "fire alarm").

But it only happens when he is excited and gets plenty of attention from us when we are home. When we get up early to go to work he is just chirping. This week was busy, and I haven't heard the "fire alarm" for a while. He is generally a very quiet bird and just chirps very softly. He is extremely active and playful, so I think he is in a good heath, but just not too vocal.

She has been to an avian vet and she checked out fine. I just wanted to make sure that it is normal for some birds to be so quiet because from what I've read they are supposed to be extremely noisy, especially the Jenday breed. I hope she is happy in our home! She seems to prefer her cage to anything else. Maybe I should get her a bigger one since she enjoys spending so much time isolated. Is there a way I can get her to like being outside of the cage more? She does seem to like being on my shoulder. But even three weeks later, getting her out of the cage is a struggle. :/

Have you tried bribing her with treats and such???? Have her out sitting with you multiple times per day. I would do 25min+ exercise at 4+ times per day on a daily basis and have her out with you away from her cage. Teach her to learn how to step up, pet her, sing to her, talk to her, get her to play with toys outside of her cage, anything! That way she's more socialized with you and wanting to come out more often on her own just to spent time with you doing those stuffs.

I've been trying to teach her to step up with treats, I've watched many videos on youtube but my attempts have been unsuccessful. When I am home she is always on my shoulder, or at least out of her cage. Is it possible that maybe she is just more of a loner type of bird? Or is it that she just needs more time?

She still needs more time and training! She'll come around eventually if you have her on your shoulder daily like that. Just keep on doing what your doing. But do get her to practice step up daily until she have it down good.

You are blessed to have a quiet Jenday haha! As long as your bird is well fed, active and playful I am sure there is nothing to worry about.
