4yr Green Cheek Conure - Quinn
Hi I'm Jay and a new soon to be conure mum! I am very excited and looking forward to having my bird and ready to give her the forever home she deserved. :)

A little about my bird. She is currently un-named at this point as I can't decide what to call her! She is four years old and quite a little cutie. Her story is a sad one.

She was brought as a pet for a young child and didn't have the best living conditions, was neglected and had an all seed diet. Due to this she has had some sever behavioral problems and health problems such has deformed feet.

She was rescued by a woman called Pia who has had a long history with breeding birds. When she received "green cheek" (will call her that for now) she was aggressive, frightened and could not walk due to the deformities of her feet. Thanks to some time love and care. "Green cheek" learnt to trust humans and to walk again and moved onto a close friend of hers for fostering. Which is where I come into the picture.

After spending months considering what bird I would love to have after years of missing that feathery friend I needed, I stumbled across a post of "green cheek" on a pets page on facebook. I instantly fell in love and contacted her foster mum and met her the next day.

I find it hard to believe that this little girl had basically been an "aviary" bird with no human interaction only months prior. She immediately jumped on my hand and demanded a scratch on the head, which i obliged only to have a few minutes after because I wasn't pay attention to where I was scratching. Long story short after being nipped, kissed and have had my attention demanded by the four year old, I decided I was going to give her forever home.

I am both excited and nervous at the same time. I'm worried I will do something wrong and her nipping will get out of hand. Though I was very much assured by her foster mother and father that she only attacks men (which i will have to try break her out of)

I am very much welcome to tips and advice that can help me on my quest for this beautiful cheeky girl. (no pun intended):green2:

Dear ZombieJay, My Paddy is a 3yr. old rescue, whom I've had a year. Paddy was a dumped chick who sat in a cage for two years. He was one of seven chicks from a lady who had no experience and got in over her head. The problem was Paddy had no love when he was forming his world view. So I had a very mean bird on my hands. Our first greet was bloody. Now he is a loving boy in many ways my favorite fid. He needed me the most. Go slow let the bird set the pace. Give a name ASAP. Find out all you can about how she was treated. Don't worry birds respond to love like children. It sounds like she's somewhat rehabilitated. That's good less blood for you. Just joking! I'm sure you'll be fine. Read all you can find and don't worry about how long things take. Call her by her name , give her a sense of self. Will be thinking of you both. Bonita :rainbow1:Paddy :green2: Emmy

Hey thanks Bonita! She now has a name - Quinn. She's only had one incident today since moving and that was biting my partner (no blood but it was hard).
I'm waiting for my first hard bite but have only received a slight nip and the attempt to steal an earring right from my ear! hahaha! Once i get the first bite I'll be ready for anything as i can be a little beak shy until the first one!

She's been a little needy and having a little screech when i leave her sight and demanding cuddles and scratches then getting annoyed im not doing it right *eyeroll* Thats why I got nipped before.

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence!

Jay and Quinn :)

Quinn is a very cute name! It sounds like your girl is feeling at home already. I'm so glad she found a loving home after such a bumpy start.
