Tashi - yellow-sided green cheek
Norbu - blue green cheek
Hello!

This is my first post. I'm in Norfolk, England and have two green-cheeks; a yellow sided called Tashi and a blue called Norbu. Norbu just had his second birthday, and Tashi is two years 8 months. Both boys and I've had them since they were eight weeks' old.

Just recently Tashi has started over-preening and he's just about got rid of all the colour on his chest! Where he preens has gone all grey and fluffy. At first I thought he was just moulting, but that now seems unlikely. Sometimes he is hard to distract from the preening, even with food.

Both boys live in my garden cabin (centrally heated) where I spend all day. They share a cage and spend five or six hours out of their cage most days. Both have learned lots of tricks, eat well and love baths. Norbu has to have his bath under fast running water, whereas Tashi likes a still bath!

Both birds are very friendly and sociable with my partner and other people they meet. In fact they love people. So both seem well adjusted. I'm wondering why Tashi is preening all the time and whether anyone has some advice for me.

Thanks for any help.
